One of the questions that we get a lot here at Escape the Crate is: “Which game is your favorite?” Our game designers have sat down to answer and give you their top 10!*
This is a very difficult question to answer. The answer changes all the time. After careful consideration, our game designers have selected their TOP 10 favorite games in the collection and have them listed below in no particular order.

1. Escape from Ice Age Park
This is perhaps the most underrated game in the collection, as prospective players often don’t know what to expect from it. We LOVE the Jurassic Park movies and we thought… what would it be like to escape from a prehistoric zoo? Instead of dinosaurs, we have bloodthirsty saber-tooth cats and angry mastodons. Toss in a steampunk vibe and a training session with a whistle, and you have a game of MAMMOTH proportions.

2. Escape the Mothman
We love creepy boxes and this one features a cryptid creature (who is rapidly gaining popularity) known as the Mothman. Our lead designer grew up not far from Point Pleasant, West Virginia, where tales of a large, flying creature were quite commonplace. This creature became associated with impending doom and seemed to predict the tragic collapse of the Silver Bridge. With that, he vanished.
Point Pleasant still hosts a Mothman festival every year! We knew we needed to throw players into an old cabin with the Mothman transmitting messages to you via an old radio receiver. It may be one of our older games, but we still play it every Halloween with our friends!

3. Escape from Camelot
Your choices will affect the game in Camelot! Two dastardly villains have taken over the kingdom and you need to fight back, but who you attack and when will change the difficulty of the game. Toss in the round table, Merlin, a dragon attack, and the sword in the stone, and you have a quest for the ages!
Several of our favorite puzzles in the whole series come from this game and it is one of our most popular games to date!

4. Escape the Gold Rush Robbery
The gold rush was one of our most requested themes and we made a MEGA-GAME out of it. Three separate chapters are in this game, which combines an escape room, a mystery, and a treasure hunt all in one. You need to pan for gold, gamble in the saloon, avoid dynamite, and catch the thief from a lineup of dodgy suspects. Add the fact that you get a prop golden nugget with clues on it, and you have a sort of “best of” of what Escape the Crate has to offer.

5. Escape the Vikings
Escape the Vikings is one of our newest games and it is quite special to us. You have 2 completely separate games that can be played in either order. In one of them, you get to play a “tower defense” game to protect a Viking village from invaders and you get to orchestrate a Viking funeral. The other game has a completely different feel to it. You need to plot your course into the unknown, dodge storms, and even stop a mutiny!

6. Escape the Mardi Gras Murders
We wanted to do a Mardi Gras box, celebrating the rich culture of New Orleans, and we had the opportunity to mix this with an Agatha Christie-style whodunit! A lavish party is thrown, the door is locked, and the other suspects are picked off one-by-one until only the killer remains.
We love the themed puzzles from palmistry to parade floats, but it is the competition in this box between the players that makes it intriguing. It is a race among each other to see who can figure out whodunit first… It is the perfect game to play during Mardi Gras!

7. Escape Whodunit
Fans loved “Escape the Mardi Gras Murders” so we made a direct sequel with “Escape Whodunit.” The formula from the first game is back, but it is updated and the game is lengthened with MORE suspects… MORE murders… and MORE clues. Set in a fancy British estate, players need to outwit the family heir who wishes to eliminate threats to their rightful inheritance. Couple that with a large cast of voice actors bringing life to the suspects, and you will find yourself the star of your own whodunit!

8. Escape on the High Seas
Everyone always pictures pirates the same way… an old man with a peg leg. But, one of the scariest pirates of the seven seas was a woman by the name of Anne Bonny.
We threw players onto a pirate ship under her control and gave them THREE chapters to play. You need to navigate the Caribbean, sink another ship, sword fight, and even walk the plank! This is our MOST PLAYED game EVER and it is one of our very favorites.

9. Escape: The Games of Olympus
Greek Mythology is filled with vindictive gods, tragic adventures, and horrifying monsters. We created a game with FOUR separate missions inside.
Gaze into the eyes of Medusa, get lost in the minotaur’s maze, soar through the clouds with Apollo, and sneak into the Underworld to gather the trophies of the gods. This was probably the most fun we had creating a game and it is certainly unlike any other escape room we have ever played!

10. Escape: Murders in the Speakeasy
The top game on the list from all of our designers was “Escape: Murders in the Speakeasy.”
The setting of the Blind Hog Speakeasy was filled with tricky puzzles, but it also holds a crime to unravel. You need to interview suspects, find connections, and figure out what they are hiding. You then need to piece it all together to create an accusation.
Even better, there are TWO mysteries to be solved in the box. We liked this game so much that we created a sequel game, “Escape: Murder in the 80’s.” This game is in the same style and will be released in May of 2023.

We are obsessed with the lore of the infamous “Unsinkable Ship” and we created a TWO game box to explore the “Ship of Dreams.” Travel down the Grand Staircase to an elegant dinner or survive the flooded passages in the bowels of the ship… the choice is up to you.

This game is one of our absolute favorites and allows you to make the choice… do you want to help the Sheriff or become an OUTLAW? From gunfights to buried treasure to safe-cracking to the gamblin’ table, we immerse you in the Old West.
