5 Halloween Party Ideas

This Halloween, elevate the spooky festivities with some great entertainment from Escape the Crate. Whether it is planning a bewitching tea party, or creepy gothic vampire themed party, the team has curated some awesome themed party ideas for you to try!

1. Plan a Bewitching Tea Party With Escape the Witch Trials

Escape the Witch Trials Image

Gather your friends and family for a wicked good time!

The Party:

To conjure up a witch's tea party for Halloween, first, summon your inner witch/wizard and let creativity brew. Set the scene with dark, draped fabrics, potion bottles (check out this cute DIY), candles, and some strategically placed broomsticks and cauldrons (homemade cauldron idea here). You can also make some DIY floating witches hats.

Brew an enchanting array of herbal teas, infusing them with aromatic spices and whimsical names like "Mystic Moonrise" and "Bewitched Brew." Serve them in vintage teapots and ornate, mismatched cups for an added touch of magic.

Keep it simple with menu ideas like “sand-witches”  or candy corn witches teeth… Or whip up wickedly delicious treats like these witch cauldron brownie bites, witch hat garlic bread, and candied apples with a sinister twist.

Encourage guests to don their finest witchy attire, complete with hats, capes, and broomsticks. Set the mood with a bewitching playlist of haunting melodies with a little DIY magic, your witch's tea party will cast a spell that lingers long after the last sip of potion is savored.

The Crate:

Two exciting missions await in this box – one is merry and one is SCARY!

In the first, you will arrive in the present day where there are rumors that a witch has been sighted in town. However, it looks like someone is pretending to be one for their own gain… get the gang together to investigate and see if you can unmask the villain!

In the second mission, you are sent back to 1692 where a young woman has been accused of witchcraft. You will need to gather evidence to prove her innocence…but that may put you in danger from a real witch who has been haunting Salem for months. Can you survive her curses and escape in time?

2. Throw a Fang-tastic Party with Escape: Night of the Vampire

Escape Night of the Vampire image

Prepare to throw a Halloween soirée that will send shivers down your spine!

The Party:

Craft eerie decor using materials like cardboard, black crepe paper, and red candles to create a gothic ambiance. Drape faux cobwebs and hang menacing bat silhouettes, while recycled bottles become hauntingly elegant candleholders. You can throw a great Halloween party with plenty of spooky-themed eats and décor - lean into the goofy, with some fake blood and plastic vampire teeth or have a sophisticated, gothic-themed event - it's up to you!

Delight in a feast of homemade treats like blood-red punch, devilishly delicious bloody confections like red velvet cakes, and creepy finger foods. (Go easy on the garlic though!😉)  Encourage guests to unleash their inner ghoul and dress as their favorite movie, TV, or literary vampire and have a prize for the best dressed. Then, turn down the lights and see if you can escape the night of the vampire!

The Crate:

We have all heard of vampires, but very few of us actually believe in them. Bram Stoker did and he set his famous novel in the very area you are set to explore... for good reason. This area of Romania is known for the whispers of the Strigoi by the locals - troubled entities that rise from their graves to prey on the living.

Your mission is quite simple. You will first need to investigate the crypts in the surrounding graveyard and then head into the halls of the castle. Search for any signs of the missing agents.  Recover and rescue any survivors, but be careful.

The communications we have received from inside tell of creatures with fangs who only rise at night. If that is the case, you might need to brush up on your vampire-hunting skills before entering the castle in the second half of the game!

3. Make This Halloween One for the (Story) Books With Escape the Grimm Wish

Escape the Grimm Wish Image

Make your Halloween party a wholesome storybook-themed event or create a dark fractured fairytale extravaganza!

The Party:

To throw a do-it-yourself fairytale-themed Halloween party, start by transforming your space into an enchanted realm. Use twinkling string lights, gossamer drapes, and faux ivy to create a magical ambiance. Set up stations inspired by classic fairytales like Cinderella's pumpkin patch, Snow White's apple bobbing, and a Sleeping Beauty station with cozy blankets and pillows.

Encourage guests to come dressed as their favorite fairytale characters, and consider providing a costume contest with whimsical prizes. Craft homemade potions and elixirs for refreshments, labeling them with charming, themed names like "Fairy Fizz", "Haunted Woods" and "Witches Brew". Serve some fairy cakes, candied apples, and some picnic-like charcuterie boards.  Arrange a playlist of enchanting melodies to set the mood, and sit down to play Escape the Grimm Wish. End the evening with a bonfire or a lantern-lit walk through the garden. Your party will leave everyone feeling like they've stepped into a storybook world.

The Crate:

What stories we believe were fairy tales might indeed be real after all? It is discovered that there has been a change to history right in the heart of Germany’s Black Forest and it appears to be something right out of the pages of a storybook. You always had a Grimm Wish… to have your own happily ever after, but it appears that comes at a cost.

The woods are filled with wonders. A talking frog begs for a kiss and a tower with hair dangling below waits for you, but there also is danger. The big, bad wolf stalks you from the shadows, while clever witches tempt you with sweets. If you are to survive these woods, you might need to brush up on your fairy tales and avoid straying too far from the path. After all, this Grimm Wish might not be everything you thought it would be…

4. Make Your Bash Out of This World With Escape: The Roswell Incident

Escape: The Roswell Incident image

Transform your space into a top-secret government facility with a DIY Area 51-themed Halloween party.

The Party:

Start by draping your venue in black curtains and stringing up green lights to evoke an otherworldly ambiance. Create caution signs and classified documents to scatter around, heightening the sense of secrecy. You can make it fun and silly with plenty of glow sticks and have your guests make and design their own tinfoil hats! OR you can make it eerie, with an alien autopsy on the food table.

Encourage guests to get creative with their costumes, whether they're donning lab coats, alien disguises, or even astronaut suits. Craft your own extraterrestrial playlist, mixing eerie soundscapes with space-themed tunes. For refreshments, concoct signature cocktails like "Cosmic Cooler" and "Martian Mule".

With a little imagination and a touch of DIY magic, your Area 51 party will be an unforgettable intergalactic adventure that leaves guests both thrilled and mystified. Check out our Pinterest board for our 29th game for more inspiration!

The Crate:

Only days after the famous “Roswell Incident” shook the world, another crash was discovered in the desert only miles away. The boss is a bit shaken by the discovery, as this was not supposed to happen in the timeline. When the world finds out about the flying saucer, it will start a panic like we have never seen before.

The United States government has contacted you to help “cover up” the newest crash in this hotbed of UFO activity. You have only a short amount of time to examine the craft, come up with ingenious ways to disguise what happened, and see if the beings onboard are still alive. You then have to somehow sneak the saucer to a secret government facility without the press snapping a photograph… Sounds easy, right?

This 2 chapter game has 2 separate game experiences. In the 1st chapter, we have a family-friendly, but eerie examination of the crash site. The 2nd chapter is a bit more intense, as you get closer to the aliens onboard. Let’s just hope that they came in peace…

The Crate:

You have been invited to Burke Manor for the reading of your great-uncle’s will. You have never heard of him before and getting the call was quite the shock!

It turns out that 8 others were also called to stay the night at the fancy mansion. The grounds are gorgeous and hide swimming pools, hiking trails, a hedge maze, and even riding stables, but they are nothing compared to the mansion itself. 30 rooms are connected by a series of hallways, dumbwaiters, staircases, and secret passages. Shortly after you all gather together, however, you discover this isn’t going to be a weekend getaway. One of your numbers wants the inheritance all to themself. One by one, the other guests are murdered… and it is up to you to solve each and every crime.

Compete against your fellow detectives as you watch the number of suspects shrink. If you find a clue… do you share it with the others? Or do you keep it for yourself? Just be careful… as you may just be the next victim yourself!
